Connecting Passion with Possibility
To say 肯Allbaugh is an advocate for education does not fully convey his commitments to students and Hawkeye 社区 College. The retired MidAmerican Energy engineer learned the value of education from his father, who served on the Lake City school board. It’s a passion that Ken and 梅格, his wife of 64 years, also instilled in their three children.
Ken served on the 校董会 for Hawkeye 社区 College more than 26 years, and was a founding member of the Hawkeye 社区 College 基金会. He and 梅格 spent decades advocating for education as the pathway to self-improvement and worked to help others realize their dreams.
梅格, a retired elementary teacher who passed away in 2008, established a scholarship at Hawkeye to support arts and sciences. Ken established a scholarship for technical students and advocated for the Friendship Village Endowment supporting Hawkeye students pursuing nursing degrees.
对于肯, the biggest reward comes from seeing students succeed in ways that may not have been possible without scholarships from the Hawkeye 社区 College 基金会.
“You see people helping others to achieve more than they could without having hands ready to pull them up and help them succeed,他说. “If you have some talent, you can share that.”
